As part of Lumiere London 2016, Artichoke and Bloomberg Philanthropies hosted an inspiring afternoon of talks from artists, city planners, philanthropists and cultural commentators.
Together at The Heart and Soul of the City, they discussed and debated the life of the city, the public realm and how they can be transformed by events such as Lumiere London. This enlightening symposium offered an insight into the minds of some of the world’s most influential cultural and political speakers.
Chair Justine Simons OBE steered discussions around the following topics:
- The politics of action in a public space: perspectives on staging disruptive acts within a world city.
- Illuminating the soul: what role does LumiereLondon and events like it have in the audience’s spiritual life?
- Art and reputation: can an event or piece of work that becomes widely popular be considered art?
Hosted in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies
